Q) Mohit, you are an inspiration to me and many other new bloggers. Can you please tell us about yourself?
Thank you Kreettanam!! I feel honored that I’m inspiring people to take up blogging, I still consider myself as a learning blogger. Blogging is a great way to put forward your views in this digital world and involve in a constructive dialect. I am a learner and at the same time I love to share what I have learned. I like to thank you and also congratulate you on your awesome blog.
I am a Software Engineer by profession and a blogger by passion. I have a degree in Computer Science from Panjab University. I started blogging in 2012 as a hobby. I am currently working in Infosys and continue to blog whenever I can.
Q) How many years you have been blogging? And do your family members help you in blogging?
I have been blogging since 2012. It has been a great journey so far. I learnt a lot from blogging. No, they know I have a blog and I write about technology but for now, it’s only me :).
Q) How did you come to know about blogging? How was your beginning in the blogging field?
I got introduced into this world after attending a seminar on blogging by CIPL. I always wanted to create tools or web apps to mark my digital presence. I was particularly fascinated by advancement in technology around us and wanted to explore and write about that.
I started my blogging career with a multi niche blog (sparkscoop.com), but due to some miscommunication the domain got unregistered. The blog was also on the same lines as CatchUpdates.com
Q) For how many hours do you work on your blog? Do you have any schedule for it?
Mostly, I am able to spend about 1-2 hours every day and generally I create my content on weekends. Ideally, I want to spend 2-3 hours every day on my blog, but it gets difficult to spend with working on the week days due to job constraints.
Q) Which webmaster/blogger is your role model? And why do you admire him?
I follow many bloggers but I would say my role model is Harsh Aggarwal from ShoutMeLoud.com. I have learnt a lot from him. He is a pro blogger with in-depth knowledge about blogging world. His tips and articles are just awesome. I connected with him on SML forum and the way he helps others is very admirable. Also, whenever I need anything, I just open ShoutMeLoud and search my query and it’s always worthwhile.
Q) Which websites do you browse regularly to keep your  knowledge  up-to-date ?
It is hard to pick few websites and mention. I browse certain websites such as ShoutMeLoud, SearchEngineLand, Moz, QuickSprout, MattCutts, CopyBlogger, Backlinko and SearchEngineJournal etc regularly to learn and explore. There are many other websites related to my niche that I love to browse. It will be a long list if I will start mentioning every website here.
Q) What do you think about the future of blogging in India? Will it be a profitable business in the future?
I think there is a lot for bloggers in India. I have seen that many people are starting their blogs in Hindi or Hinglish (Hindi+ English) for Indians to target specific readers. It will help to reach out to more audience and ones who are most comfortable in its local language. If the content of the blog is informative, it will definitely attract visitors and we can channel them into revenues.
Q) What are your sources of online income?
I started blogging as my hobby, and later when visitors grew I began to experiment a little with advertising. As of now, my main source of online income is Google AdSense and Affiliate Marketing.
I am mostly active on Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus and LinkedIn. Though in last few months, I have found that Quora is also one of the best communities where you can learn and help others by answering their questions. You can find many experts under your forte with whom you can connect and grow your network. As of now, I am focusing more on these social networks.
Q) Most big bloggers have reported that their revenue has been coming down in last few years due to high competition. What do you say?
Yes, blogging is on its peak. Many folks have started their blogs where they share their experiences and tips. Thus, it has increased the competition. Since competition is high, revenue is splitting. But I think, one should continue giving his best and providing your audience what they want. Competition is a part of life. If your content is helpful and diverse, it will definitely attract new visitors. The key is to be patient and continue blogging.
Q) What’s your opinion about SilentPoints?
SilentPoints is a good initiative taken by you where you share your ideas and updates about blogging, programming and technology etc. I have been a follower to your blog from its initial days. I think you have done a great job here and it is doing very well. I admire your passion that you share about blogging. I am pretty sure that you will take SilentPoints to the higher level soon.
